Through this case study, we are trying to understand how we can increase number of users sharing their music through Spotify, and analyze how users are currently sharing their music through Spotify.
To start with, we need to define why we are working on this case study. To obtain that goal, we can use practices like asking basic clarifying questions. This also helps in building a basic roadmap for the features.
Why are we trying to introduce new features?
Because while Spotify already provides sharing options, they are cumbersome and there are no options to share music directly on the app.
Who is our target audience?
Our target audience is everyone who uses Spotify. But this large pool can be segmented into people who use Spotify to share their music and those who don’t.
What kind of features are we adding?
Direct sharing options on the app, personalized sharing option based on your friends list and previous sharing history, A way to share your personalized playlists which is currently unavailable on the app, more customization options for promo cards, Story like features for your Spotify connections.
What will the revenue model be like?
Since currently Spotify is running on 2 models i.e. ad-based and premium model, we may distribute sharing features based said models. While most of the sharing options can be provided to all the users, we can keep few features like custom promo cards for premium users. This can act as on incentive for freemium- users to upgrade to a premium model.
